Alicia Shepherd, M.A. LMHC (she/they)

I’m an unapologetically queer & goofy relational analytic psychotherapist and bodyworker with a dark sense of humor. Born & raised in Florida, then living in Seattle, WA I received my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology—a relational, psychoanalytic training program. I did my clinical internship with Sound Mental Health in Seattle, WA where I worked with folks experiencing PTSD, addiction, anxiety, depression, recent homelessness or involvement with the legal system. I then worked in Crisis Intervention. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I was a public school teacher and have been a massage therapist/bodyworker since 2010. I am also Reiki attuned and can incorporate energy work into treatment as well (even via telehealth!).

I am a queer person who is committed to making quality therapy more accessible for the LGBTQ community. My work focuses primarily on trauma and identity and my massage therapy background coupled with interpersonal neurobiology-informed modalities such as mindfulness informs the way I integrate the body into treatment. I look at the way trauma shows up relationally and how it manifests in the body as well.

Therapeutic Areas of Focus:

  • Trauma/PTSD/C-PTSD

  • ADHD/neurodivergence

  • Chronic Shame

  • Anxiety

  • Grief & Loss

  • LGBTQ+ identities

  • Poly/Ethical Non-monogamy

  • Kink/BDSM

  • Identity exploration and integration

I really believe in this stuff. I have done my own personal psychotherapy for over 10 years and I am continually doing my own work in some capacity because I believe this is a lifelong journey of self discovery. I know what it is like to sit in the client’s seat, to look at website after website, taking the gamble on a therapist who I hope “gets” me. I know transformation is possible for you because it has been possible for me.

When I am not working with my clients, I can be found riding my Vespa, reading Tarot, drinking too much coffee, doing improv and acting, listening to David Bowie, or going to live shows.
